DA Music Meme For Writers

1. Pick a character, fandom, pairing, friendship, whatever.

2. Put on your music program on shuffle/random and start playing songs.

3. For each song, write something inspired by the song related to the theme you chose earlier. You only have the song length. No pre-planning and no writing after the song is over. No skipping songs either.

4. Do 10 songs and post. Make sure to include the song name/artist.

Hawkstar slowly walked up the small, green hill.  The hot sun beat down upon the skin which was exposed (which actually wasn’t much).  He stopped next to a tree and brushed his scraggly, brown hair from his eyes.  He looked to the horizon and saw that the sun was sinking beneath the hills in the distance.  He leaned against the tree and let out a long breath.  Yes, go down already.  He thought.  Suddenly, a figure dressed all in black with no exposed flesh dropped from the tree and landed in front of Hawkstar.  Taken aback, Hawkstar did the first thing that came to his mind; he went into a fighting stance.  The figure shook its head.  “Hawkstar, is that any way to treat your friend?”  It said.  Hawkstar lowered his hands, but kept them clenched into fists.

Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Hawkstar cautiously stepped through the darkened room.  The chrome floor felt cold on his exposed feet.  Suddenly, the lights flashed on and numerous doors opened on every wall.  Robot sentries poured from them, all wielding immense cannons on their arms.  One of the robots fired at Hawkstar and time seemed to slow down.  Hawkstar took a few steps to the side and the missile went by him and collided with another robot, instantly destroying it.  Hawkstar breathed a small sigh of relief, but it caught in his throat.  All the lights became a bright red color and a toxic gas began flooding the room.  Hawkstar narrowed his eyes and charged at the robots. He shook his arms revealing short swords hidden in his sleeves.  He leaped into the air over a robot and slashed it in two with a single strike.  The other robots all got in a line, took aim, and fired.

The Pretender by The Foo Fighters

Hawkstar stood atop a building, another man behind him.  “Hawkstar W. Ozymandias?”  The man asked.  Hawkstar simply nodded, not turning to face the second man.  “I’m afraid they won’t be coming tonight.”  The man continued.  Hawkstar lightly shut his eyes and opened his mouth.  “I know,” he responded.  “I’ve always known.  Things were never meant to go that way.”  Hawkstar looked over the edge of the building.

The American Dream by the Hollywood Studio Symphony

Fingers pushed on an electronic keyboard, emitting a shrill and obviously electronic noise.  Hawkstar stopped playing and stood up.  He scratched his head and turned to look out the window.  “I wish this place had a better keyboard.”  He remarked as he turned to look at a staircase.  Hawkstar shrugged and walked over to the staircase, beginning to climb it.  He paused by a window to look out at the cemetery below.  After his brief pause, he broke into a run to reach the top of the staircase as fast as possible.  Soon, he opened a door and was led out onto a ledge.  He stopped and looked out over the hills.

The Cheat Is Not Dead by Strong Bad

Hawkstar yanked down on a lever causing steam to hiss out of one of the iron walls of the already boiling cabin.  With a loud clank the scenery outside the window began to move, he was moving.  Hawkstar smirked and pushed another lever, his speed accelerated.  He sat down on a green leather seat and stuck his head out of the window.  He felt the wind blow into his face as the countryside whipped past him.  Ahead, his route cut through a lush forest.  Hawkstar stuck his head back into the window so he wouldn’t get struck across the face with a protruding branch.  He tapped his finger on the metal windowsill as his vehicle continued to accelerate.  He looked at the speed gauge, the red needle was flicking forward.

Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne

A December wind blew at the window.  Hawkstar rubbed his arms together as he looked out into the snowy blizzard.  He soon stopped and began to rub his chest, remembering Ra’s al Ghul’s advice.  Hawkstar sighed and shut his eyes, leaning back on the sofa.  He could feel the warmth of the blazing fire on his body, but he still felt cold.  So cold, he thought.  So very cold.  He stood up and walked over to the window again.  He opened his eyes and stared out the window.  Staring at the snow, at the frost covered buildings, and at the town hall across the street.

How Did We Get From Saying I Love You by Great Big Sea

Hawkstar stepped through the forest.  The leafless trees indicated that it was Autumn (and gave the forest a frightening look).  He stared up at the sky; a full moon was hanging in the dark abyss.  He returned his eyes to the ground and saw a creature scurry under what leaves remained.  It bolted out and looked up at Hawkstar.  A rat, Hawkstar thought, noting the creature’s species.  Definitely a rat.

Dreary, Dreary by The Gothic Archies

Hawkstar stood in the empty subway station.  The darkness that filled the tunnels indicated that no subways were approaching.  Taking a quick glance to see if anyone was watching, Hawkstar jumped onto the subway tracks and ran into a tunnel.  He reached into his pocket and removed a flashlight.  He flicked it on and shone it around the tunnel.  Hawkstar took wary steps through the confining space, making sure not to touch the third rail which would most certainly fry him like a cheap burger.  Suddenly his light went out, making it impossible to see in the claustrophobic tunnels.  Hawkstar took a deep breath, but stopped when light began to fill the tunnel.  A subway was coming.

Antrozous by Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard

Hawkstar stood in the middle of a desert, next to a road.  He took out a piece of paper and wrote “Atomic Café” on it.  He held it up and waited for someone to pick him up.  Soon a green truck drove up and stopped next to him.  The driver signaled to the back indicating that Hawkstar was to ride in there.  Hawkstar shrugged; glad to have just gotten a ride.  He hopped into the back and watched the road as the truck began to move.

Hound Dog by Elvis Presley

The tapping of the hands echoed in the silent prison cell.  The occupant of the prison cell, Hawkstar W. Ozymandias, wore a large grin on his face as he waited.  Soon a police officer approached Hawkstar’s cell.  He pushed a button and the cell door slid open.  “Alright Ozy,” the officer said.  “You’re free to go.”  Hawkstar stood up, stepped out of the cell, and walked down a large hallway with cells on both walls, the inmates occupying such cells looked very angry.

Ordinary Day by Great Big Sea
Yeah, I did it again. And you know why? I did it because I was bored. [/Ryuk] This was fun...again. Got the creative juices flowing. I feel like writing now.
